ABOUT PBIS

What is PBIS?

PBIS is an acronym for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. “PBIS is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health.”*

How long have you been serving schools and districts on PBIS implementation?

Our team has been guiding Wisconsin leadership teams since 1998. This organization was created when the Wisconsin RtI Center dissolved and there was a great need for highly qualified and experienced PBIS coaches, trainers, and technical assistance coordinators.

When PBIS is implemented with fidelity, what can we expect?

When implemented with fidelity, “PBIS improves social emotional competence, academic success, and school climate. It also improves teacher health and wellbeing. It is a way to create positive, predictable, equitable and safe learning environments where everyone thrives.”*

What is PBISApps?

PBISApps offers free, online applications to assess and store your PBIS implementation data. On their site, you can access tools and assessments like the Tiered Fidelity Inventory and Feedback and Input Survey. We highly recommend taking assessments with a coach from our team, so you get the most out of your assessments.

Is PBIS a framework?

Yes, “PBIS is a framework for creating safe, positive, equitable schools where everyone feels successful and seen. By implementing evidence-based practices within a PBIS framework, schools support their students’ academic, social, and behavioral success, engage with families to create locally meaningful and culturally relevant outcomes, and use data to make informed decisions that improve the way things work for everyone.”*

Why should you implement PBIS?

Every child deserves a safe, positive, consistent, predictable, and equitable learning environment. It helps our students thrive and makes our schools safer and better. We know this because research shows it—time and time again.

Is there a national center for PBIS?

Yes. You can find free PBIS evidenced-based research and resources funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs and Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (Grant No. H326S180001) on their site at www.pbis.org.
